From his practice in Portland, Oregon, Rod has worked throughout the western United States over the past forty years. His commitment to the promotion of design excellence is recognized with over 30 national, regional, and local awards, and has been recognized through numerous publications including Architectural Digest, Custom Home, and Fine Homebuilding. His practice is presently focusing on custom residential and small commercial projects, all addressing energy efficiency and climate change. Always searching for new opportunities and challenges, each project is an exciting collaboration.

Rod is a Fellow in the American Institute of Architects and is currently an AIA Northwest and Pacific Region Representative to the AIA College of Fellows. He was a recent AIA Northwest and Pacific Region Director and Representative to the AIA Strategic Council and was awarded the Louise Blanchard Bethune Fellowship. He served as Architecture Foundation of Oregon President from 2016 through 2017 and AIA Oregon President from 2015 through 2016. Rod is currently an Adjunct Assistant Professor at Portland State University and was an Adjunct Instructor for design in the architecture program at the University of Oregon where he graduated with a Bachelor of Architecture Degree from the U of O School of Architecture and Allied Arts (now College of Design). 

In 2021, Rod received the AIA Northwest & Pacific Region Medal of Honor for Lifetime Achievement, the highest recognition bestowed upon an individual from the NW&PR for their continued contributions to the profession and leadership in design, service, advance learning, and mentorship.
